Up To No Good

Each time we shoot a lookbook, we try to give our followers a taste of the Richmond culture. This Thursday, we decided to do some exploring (risky exploring, at that) and came upon an abandoned gas company building. Let us just tell you, the pictures do not do it justice. The scenery had loads to offer, from insanely colorful graffiti to broken-in windows and rustic machinery. Every little piece told a story. Someone else's trash became our blog's new treasure; and we took advantage of every bit of it.

Even on days that we are not shooting a lookbook, we often end up wearing similar outfits, but for this lookbook we intentionally matched. We agreed that we should do a more edgy look, with army green as the staple color. The two outfits worked well in this more rustic and rugged setting. By wearing more subtle and natural colors, the eye-catching background stood out even more. Because we had coordinated outfits, we jumped at the opportunity to use our companions (David and my roommate Kacey came along with us) as stand-in photographers- thanks guys! It's nice to have people who are so willing to step up and help us out.

We hope that this shoot helps our followers see how style is not about what you're wearing but how you wear it. Our number one goal is to inspire others around us to be creative and daring and take advantage of what you have. When the weather is warm, don't go with the same old tank and shorts, challenge yourself to wear light layers in as many ways as you can! Wear bold jewelry that doesn't match, wear obnoxious lipstick, wear your boyfriend's t-shirt-just because you can! Open up the eyes of the people around you in a way that is surprising, daring, and makes them think: "She's up to no good."
